for a topical issue of Open Cultural Studies

ULYSSES AT ONE HUNDRED PLUS

(second call)

Open Cultural Studies  (www.degruyter.com/CULTUREinvites submissions for a topical issue on the occasion of the recent centennial of James Joyce’s Ulysses, edited by Erin Carlston (The University of Aukland, New Zealand) and Trip McCrossin (Rutgers University, United States).

James Joyce’s Ulysses first appeared in its entirety on February 2, 1922, on his fortieth birthday. On the occasion of its recent centennial, and in the spirit of T.S. Eliot’s early appraisal—that it is “a book to which we are all indebted, and from which none of us can escape”—we solicit contributions that explore it anew. What can we continue to learn from it about the many overlapping dimensions of the human condition … and might what we learn help us to be around for its bicentennial? All disciplines, perspectives, and approaches are welcome.

Interested parties are encouraged to reach out in advance with ideas, proposals, abstracts, drafts, and such like, at trip@mccrossin.org
