“Neutrosophic Sets - Theory and Applications”
The theory of neutrosophic set is now almost 20 years old. In these years theory of neutrosophic sets, which started as a generalization of intuitionistic fuzzy sets, has established itself as a general framework for studing uncertainties present in physical systems.
Neutrosophy is a branch of Philosophy which was introduced by Prof. Florentin Smarandache in 1980’s. Neutrosophy studies the origin, nature and scope of neutralites, as well as their interaction with different ideational spectra. It is based on neutrosophic logic, neutrosophic probabilities, neutrosophic sets and neutrosophic statistics.
Neutrosophic Sets came into existence in 1999 and it characterized by a truth membership function, a falsity membership function and an indeterminacy membership function respectively and for each element of the universe, these values lie within the non-standard unit interval. Unlike intuitionistic fuzzy sets, here the indeterminacy membership is independent of truth and falsity values. Hence neutrosophic sets are more general in nature than intuitionistic fuzzy sets and therefore draws a special attention of the researchers.
Applications of neutrosophic sets in various domains ranging from machine learning to medical diagnosis, pattern recognition, multicriteria decision making etc. have also flourished in last 10 years and that shows its supremacy over other theories available for modeling physical systems under uncertainties.
This edited volume aims to introduce the researchers about the recent developments in this field, both in theory and applications, and also throws a light on the future areas of applications of neutrosophic theory.
Science Gate Publishing (SGP) in collaboration with three eminent scientists in the field of soft computing and neutrosophic sets decided to organize the publication of an edited book. This book belongs to the series of the publisher “Gate to Computer Science and Research” (GCSR Vol. 7) having the title “Neutrosophic Sets - Theory and Applications”.
This edited book aims to bring together the most active and eminent scientists working in the field of neutrosophic sets and/or its applications. This participation is expected to be followed by the presentation of new ideas, trends and prospects through original and well established works in the form of book chapters.
