SPECIAL ISSUE ON ICT FOR CULTURE AND TOURISM

INTRODUCTION:
In recent years there has been a significant increase of the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) by cultural organisations and tourism industry. The advent of ICT in the sectors of culture and tourism fostered both economic development and social wellbeing. ICT are increasingly used by cultural organisations and by tourism industry, in order to facilitate the access to their products, target of specific groups of visitors and customers, brand and promote their creative endeavours and enhance their competitiveness. Recognizing the recent advances of ICT in various disciplines, research within the context of culture and tourism needs to increase in extent and move beyond current knowledge.
It is in this venue that this special issue will demonstrate several of the perspectives, the challenges and the implications that ICT offer to culture and tourism. We encourage papers that examine innovative approaches that provide interesting theoretical and empirical contributions to this research themes, as well as future research suggestions.
OBJECTIVE OF THE SPECIAL ISSUE:
The objective of the special issue is to collect the latest theoretical and empirical research on ICT and its applications in culture and tourism. Authors of papers presented in the International Conference on Strategic, Innovative Marketing and Tourism (ICSIMAT) conference (http://icsimat.com/) that took place in the Athenian Riviera from the 17th to the 20th of October 2018 with proceedings in Springer, are also welcome to submit, provided that they add more than 50% new material on the already submitted papers at ICSIMAT.
The editors of this special issue invite contributions from various disciplines to help us to deepen and broaden our understanding of the latest trends in ICT with attention to various applications to culture and tourism.

• Serious games and culture
• Social media
• ICT and sustainable tourism
• Digital marketing in tourism

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this special theme issue on [insert special issue topic] on or before [insert due date]. All submissions must be original and may not be under review by another publication.
