AIMS AND SCOPE
----------------------------
Internet-of-things (IoT) refers to a smart world of physical objects (devices), which are interconnected through the Internet and provide value added services. It is on the verge of transforming our lives, providing a more convenient and efficient communicating environment. The potential applications span several fields, such as like healthcare, industrial automation, smart homes, smart grid, and smart city. One of the characteristics of IoT is the heterogeneity of devices, platforms, wireless technologies, communication protocols, and applications, which form the building blocks of IoT. The diversity of IoT applications and services poses an interesting and difficult challenge that must be addressed in order to support seamless operation and make possible wide and efficient deployment of IoT in the near future.
This special issue seeks high quality research articles about state-of-the-art IoT technologies. The accepted papers will show the diversity of developments in this field and help the readers to understand more about this technology trend and how recent advances can enable other emerging technologies to be integrated with IoT to boost its capabilities. Articles may present and solve open research problems, integrate novel solutions, and compare existing standards. High quality review papers are welcomed.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
Network architecture and protocols for heterogeneous IoT
Efficient operation of resource-constrained IoT devices
Interoperability in heterogeneous environment
Network operation and management
Resource discovery and management
Device discovery and management
Data management
Integration of IoT with fog computing
Integration of IoT with cloud computing (cloud of things)
Security and privacy in heterogeneous IoT
MAC layer protocols for IoT
Quality of service
