in the Software Technology Track of the
51st Hawaii International Conference on Systems Sciences (HICSS 51)

CALL FOR PAPERS
Submission deadline: June 15, 2017 (firm)
This minitrack welcomes submissions addressing both technical and related issues that arise in designing and building wireless networks, and on the applications of wireless networks in solving real-world challenges and securely connecting people and devices. Wireless networks include cellular networks, sensor networks, ad-hoc networks, WiFi, WiMax, Bluetooth, and more.
Technical issues are found in the protocol stack from the physical layer to the application layer, beginning with security and including efficiency, scalability, the design and motivation of new systems, novel applications, better use of existing technology, energy efficiency of communications and use, regulatory issues, and in general, issues that are of concern when designing or building wireless networks.
Often, technical solutions must be accompanied by relevant social, environmental, or economic considerations which may be essential to the success of the technology.
In general, this minitrack is expansive in welcoming submissions in any area related to wireless networks. Prospective authors are invited to contact the minitrack chairs if they seek more detailed guidance.
The following is a partial list of research topics of particular interest for this minitrack:
security in wireless networks
wireless networking issues at all layers of the protocol stack, including physical, MAC, routing, transport, application, or cross-layer protocols and algorithms
theoretical issues of interest in the design or implementation of wireless networks, including communications, scalability, coordination, access control, and other advances in the field
cellular and mobile broadband wireless networks
ad hoc wireless networks including mesh networks and mixed wired and wireless networks
wireless sensor networks
embedded systems (e.g. in the IoT, Internet of Things) using wireless networks
network management and localization or dealing with approximate location
novel applications of wireless networks
social and environmental benefits and consequences of increased use of wireless networks and new applications.
PAPER SUBMISSION
Authors submit the full paper by June 15, 2017 (no extensions will be allowed). Further details will be available on the main HICSS website, http://hicss.hawaii.edu, from April onwards.
Papers must be original. At least one author of each accepted paper must register to attend the conference.

Acceptance notification August 17, 2017
Submission of final version September 22, 2017
HICSS registration by at least one author October 1, 2017
