BigData Congress 2018 Call for Papers
The 2018 7th International Congress on Big Data (BigData Congress 2018)
http://www.bigdatacongress.org/2018/
BigData Congress 2018 has obtained approval from the following journals to organize special issues based on extended versions of BigData Congress papers:
- Special Issues in Services Transactions on Internet of Things (STIOT),
- Special Issues in Services Transactions on Services Computing (STSC),
- Special Issues in Services Transactions on Big Data (STBD),
- Special Issues in Services Transactions on Cloud Computing (STCC),
- Special Issue in International Journal of Web Services Research (JWSR)(Indexed by SCI & EI),
- Special Issue in International Journal of Business Process Integration and Management (IJBPIM).
BigData Congress 2018 organizing committee invites you to participate in the 7th edition of BigData Congress, to be held on June 25 – June 30, 2018, Seattle, USA
BigData Congress 2018 will be co-located with the following service-oriented sister conferences: the 11th 2018 International Conference on Cloud Computing (CLOUD 2018), the 15th 2018 International Conference on Services Computing (SCC 2018), the 25th International Conference on Web Services (ICWS 2018), the 7th International Conference on Mobile Services (AIMS 2018), and the 14th World Congress on Services (SERVICES 2018). These co-located theme topic conferences will all revolve around "services," while each focusing on exploring different aspects (cloud-based services, web-based services, business services, mobile services, vertical industry services, and Big Data services).
The technical program of BigData Congress 2018 will consist of a set of regular tracks and a new set of special tracks. The regular tracks are: regular research track, regular applications track, and short paper track. These tracks are similar to previous BigData Congress submission tracks. The regular research track will emphasize both theoretical and experimental research contributions. The regular applications track will pay special attention to insights derived from real world big data applications, particularly with respect to experience reports and evaluation results. The short paper track will consider concise papers for timely dissemination of new ideas and exploratory results.
The special tracks will significantly expand the scope of BigData Congress to include innovative contributions that cover the entire lifecycle of big data research: (1) vision papers to point out emerging challenges, (2) data sets and benchmarks (summarized by short papers) that enable innovative big data research, (3) technical papers that describe significant research output, (4) applications and experience papers that apply and evaluate research methods and tools, and (5) survey papers that organize and summarize important research results and resources. Accordingly, these broadly defined contributions will be evaluated by PC members with special interest and expertise in each phase of the research lifecycle: vision papers, research contributions, applications and experiences, and enabling resources that include data sets, benchmarks, and surveys. The two special tracks included for BigData Congress 2018 are: Real-Time Big Data Analytics, and Big Data/Smart Cities.
We also define the technical scope of big data research broadly from the 5V perspective. In addition to the traditional definition of big volume and high velocity, we also encourage submissions that describe techniques and tools for handling big variety and high veracity. Of special interest are submissions that start from big data containing big noise, and achieve significantly improved value of output data.
Technical topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
Big Data Models and Algorithms
Foundational Models for Big Data
Algorithms and Programming Techniques for Big Data Processing
Big Data Analytics and Metrics
Big Data Architectures
Cloud Computing Techniques for Big Data
Big Data as a Service

All submissions must be original and previously unpublished papers. The submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by at least 3 program committee members. Accepted and presented papers from all BigData Congress tracks will appear in the conference proceedings. Selected research track papers will be invited for extension and revision for publication (after journal reviewing process) in special issues of the Services Transactions on Services Computing (STSC), International Journal of Big Data (IJBD), International Journal of Web Services Research (JWSR), and International Journal of Business Process Integration and Management (IJBPIM). JWSR is indexed by SCI and EI [Link].
All submitted manuscripts must conform to the format described by SCF Proceedings template in WORD or Latex Package. The page limit for the Short Paper Track is 4 pages. All other tracks have a page limit of 8 pages, except for survey paper submissions, which may be extended to 12 pages. Submissions that do not conform to the SCF format will not be reviewed. Papers exceeding the page limits will be either rejected without review, or reviewed within the page limits (the pages beyond the limit will not be considered in the reviews). Electronic submission of manuscripts (in PDF or Word format) is required. Detailed instructions for electronic paper preparation and submission, panel proposals, tutorial proposals, workshop proposals, and review process can be found at conference web site.
For each paper, authors choose one appropriate track at submission time. However, the PC co-chairs may assign reviewers with appropriate expertise from all areas and tracks for each submission. In addition, if session slots are available, manuscripts submitted to one track may be recommended to another track for further consideration. If a paper is accepted by a track different from the original choice, the authors have the discretion to agree to the PC recommendation or to decline the paper acceptance.
At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register for the conference and present the paper. One Best Paper award and one Best Student Paper award will be granted at BigData Congress 2018. The first author of the best student paper must be a full-time student.
The two special tracks (Real-Time Big Data Analytics and Big Data/Smart Cities) will be partially sponsored by the Research Coordination Network (RCN) on Big Data/Smart Cities [web site], which is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The special tracks welcome submissions from all phases of the research lifecycle (vision, data set, research, application, survey). One author (from the USA) of each accepted paper will be considered for financial support, in the form of a RCN Fellowship for Big Data/Smart Cities, to present the paper at the BigData Congress. Depending on the availability of funds, the RCN Fellowship may include the conference registration and travel support. Early career investigators will have priority in receiving the RCN Fellowship. Additional funding from sources in other countries to support authors (of papers in the special tracks) from outside of USA is being sought and will be announced in the BigData Congress web site as they become available.

It is expected that no one with access to a paper under review will make any inappropriate use of the special knowledge. Content of abstracts submitted to conference program committees should be regarded as privileged as well, and handled in the same manner.
