We are pleased to invite you to attend and participate in the “Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum” on 24 - 26 February 2018, which will be under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and United Nations leaderships.

The key pillars of the forum are focused on humanitarian assistance, financing & capacities, Innovation & Reform, localizing aid. It will be an opportunity to build on the conclusions of previous International Forums and strengthen and generate commitments to help reduce suffering and to deliver assistance more efficiently to those in need.

The forum will bring together professionals and key decision-makers in the humanitarian community. In addition, the forum will include representatives from over 150 nations, including Heads of State, hundreds of civil society and non-governmental organizations, and partners – including the heads of international humanitarian agencies, and the private sector.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:
1. Analysis of Disaster Trends:
• Internal displacement issues.
• Refugee issues.
• Involving youth in response processes in countries affected by disasters and conflicts.
• Foreign aid approaches and mechanisms.

2. Humanitarian Response:
• Strengthening regional humanitarian response mechanisms.
• Strengthening local humanitarian response mechanisms.
• Funding and UN urgent humanitarian appeal requirements.
• Humanitarian funding channels.

3. Humanitarian Response Coordination.
• Coordination mechanisms for humanitarian action.
• Humanitarian international assistance provided by governments.
• Special international humanitarian assistance by donors.
• Annual estimates of the number of people living in poverty as a result of their vulnerability to disasters.
• Coordination on the field in recipient countries.

4. International Humanitarian Law
• Terrorism and its impact on the delivery of international aid.
• Non-discrimination practices in the provision of services in situations of humanitarian crisis.
• IHL provisions and principles protecting civilians
• IHL treaties
• Customary IHL

We welcome proposals for papers from researchers not only with a humanitarian background, but also from other disciplines.
Please submit an abstract of 300 words and a brief CV by January 20, 2018.
The best presented papers will be recognized and awarded by our Award Committee.
All travel expenses and accommodation will be covered by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.
