Neural Computation and Applications for Sustainable Energy Systems

NCASES 2019

Sustainable Energy Sustainable Development

Call for Papers
Rapid development of Renewable Energy technologies and strict regulations on carbon emissions boosted the development of sustainable energy systems, but the complexity of their management has also increased. The aim of this special issue is to solicit theoretical, computational, application-oriented, experimental and real-world research in the field of neural computing and to demonstrate the advances, and improvements in the investigation and application of state-of-the-art neural computing methodologies for sustainable energy management. This special issue will foster and encourage active participation of academic researchers and scholars from a variety of communities from both the academia and the industry, focusing on the applications of neural computing for analysing, modelling and simulating energy systems on multiple levels of scale (smart cities, smart homes, microgrids, Body Area Networks). This will bring the opportunity to review latest advances, to promote interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration, and to explore future trends of the research in this field and related areas.
Topics related to neural computation to be covered in this special issue include but are not limited to:
• Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in energy systems (neural networks, neuro-fuzzy systems, data mining, pattern recognition, signal processing, nature inspired computational intelligence)
• Optimization of renewable energy systems
• Energy Systems, Networks, Grids, and Microgrids
• Process control and monitoring
• Fault diagnostics and maintenance
• Smart systems
• Industry 4.0
• Industrial and energy management applications of neural computing
• Energy management in Wireless Sensor Networks and Internet-of-things
• Low-power embedded computing
• Power management of wearable devices and mobile applications
• Smart computing for Energy Internet
• Renewable Energy Systems (wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, biomass, hybrid)
• Smart Combustion Systems
