Scope:
The purpose of SIGMAP 2019, the International Conference on Signal Processing and Multimedia Applications, is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested on information systems and applications, including theory and practice in various heterogeneous and interrelated fields including image, video and audio data processing, new sources of multimodal data (text, social, health, etc.) and Multimedia Applications related to representation, storage, authentication and communication of multimedia information. Multimedia is a research field that includes computing methods in which different modalities are integrated and combined, with the aim to take advantage from each data source. Traditionally, the multimedia research community has been able to handle big data, promote and create large scale datasets, as well as to address new challenges by proposing novel methods and applications. In the last few years, the amount of exchanged multimedia information have experienced an exponential growth (e.g., Social Network Platforms), as well as the availability of signal data coming from smart personal devices (e.g., smart watches, wearable sensors, smart bracelet, etc.) and other kinds of sensors. This allowed the development of new applications, aimed to take advantage from this huge amount of data. In this context, theoretical and practical methods, based on modern learning techniques (e.g., Deep Learning), able to improve each step of the processing, analysis, communication and presentation in such applications' pipelines are needed. The signal processing field, when combined with multimedia information encompasses a large number of research topics and emerging applications.
