We are pleased to make public this invitation for the submission of research papers for publication in the first issue of the Journal of Transportation and Society, published by the Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management of the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University.

This new, peer-reviewed periodical is focused on research around the intersections of transportation and other policy arenas. Designed to be multi-disciplinary in its focus, the Journal will highlight how transportation can play a broad and important role in creating a stronger, safer, cleaner and more just society. Initial publication will be online and open access.

This first issue seeks to address, but is not confined to, topics in the following disciplines as they relate to transportation:
- Geography
- Economics
- Politics
- Sociology
- Psychology
- Urban Planning
- Law and Regulation

While a range of topics is welcome, authors must ensure that the contents of the manuscripts reflect significant influence from and contribution to the transportation literature. Abstracts (of no more than 250 words) and expressions of interests should be sent to Emily Dowdall (emily.dowdall@nyu.edu) by August 1, 2010. (Papers are due 8 weeks after notification of abstract acceptance).
