ICSE Demonstrations 2019

Software Systems

# Call for Contributions
The 41st ACM/IEEE International Conference on Software Engineering
Demonstrations Track serves as a venue for publishing and presenting advances
in software engineering tools that advance the practice, research, or both. The
track is a highly interactive venue in which researchers and practitioners can
demonstrate their tools and discuss them with attendees. A successful
submission to the Demonstrations Track describes novel aspects of an early
prototypeor a mature tool, and communicates clearly the following information
to the audience:
* the tool’s envisioned users,
* the software engineering challenges the tool proposes to address,
* how the tool is used, and
* the results of validation studies already conducted for a mature tool, or the
design of planned studies for an early prototype.
Highlighting scientific contributions through concrete artifacts is a critical
supplement to the traditional ICSE research papers. A demonstration provides
the opportunity to communicate how the scientific approach has been implemented
or how a specific hypothesis has been assessed, including details such as
implementation and usage issues, data models and representations, APIs for tool
and data access. Authors of a regular research paper are thus also encouraged
to submit an accompanying demonstration paper.
## How to Submit
Each submission about a tool consists of a paper describing the tool and a
video representation of the tool demonstration:
* The demonstrated tool must be made public, and, if possible, also
open-source.
* The demonstration paper submission may not exceed four (4) pages, including
all text, references, and figures, and must be in PDF format and must conform
to the IEEE Conference Proceedings Formatting Guidelines (title in 24pt font
and full text in 10pt type, LaTeX users must use
\documentclass[10pt,conference]{IEEEtran} without including the compsoc or
compsocconf options).
* Each submission must be accompanied by a short video that is between three
(3) and five (5) minutes long and that illustrates the demonstration. The
video should be made available online at the time of submission. Videos
should
a. provide an overview of the tool’s capabilities,
b. walk through at least some of the tool’s capabilities,
c. where appropriate, provide clarifying voice-over and annotation
highlights, and
d. be engaging and exciting for the watcher!
* The submission may not have been previously published in a demonstration
forum.
* The tool demonstrations track will be using the single-blind reviewing model,
so the submitted PDFs should identify the authors.
Papers must be submitted electronically through EasyChair submission page
(https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icse2019) by October 1, 2018. The
submission Webpage will be opened 3 months before the submission deadline. At
the end of the abstract, please append the URL at which your demo video can be
found. Please note that for consistency, we require that ALL videos be uploaded
to YouTube and made accessible during the time of reviewing. Authors of
successful submissions will have the opportunity to revise both the paper and
the video, and its hosting location, by the camera-ready deadline.

## Evaluation
Each submission will be reviewed by at least three members of the
demonstrations selection committee. The criteria for evaluating a submission
include:
* the relevance of the proposed demonstration to the ICSE audience,
* the technical soundness of the demonstrated tool,
* the originality of the submission’s underlying ideas,
* the quality of the submission’s presentation and of its associated video, and
* the degree to which the submission considers the relevant literature.
## Important Dates
* Submission deadline: October 1, 2018
* Notification deadline: December 17, 2018
