Introduction

A wide-ranging investigation of the transgressive internet from a multimedia angle, including Forensic Linguistics. The transgressive internet includes internet trolling, threatening texts and texts which break moral boundaries. In this manner, we will be investigating the issue of arbitrarily set moral boundaries in regards to the transgressive internet. We will also investigate the language of the transgressive internet and will be accessing whether or not a text can be interpreted as a threat. We will also look at the language of rape threats and investigate them in detail.

Objective

To better understand the issues of transgressive behaviour on the internet, the impact of it on people's interactions on the internet and the relationship between hate speech and free speech. This book will have academic merit on a relevant, expanding subject whilst approaching the subject from multiple perspectives to develop a well-rounded understanding and comprehension of the subject. The themes of speech, language and subjectivity on the internet will be impacted as it will be analysed from differing specialisations and perspectives from a variety of angles. This will also investigate the issues surrounding arbitrarily set and ever changing social and moral boundaries on the internet.

Target Audience

The book is academic therefore is aimed towards an academic audience, however the book aims to be accessible for other non-specialist readers who are interested in transgressive internet use. The book will be used to understand this subject and provide some unique perspectives and opinions on the subject to help stimulate debate.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before December 22, 2021, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by January 5, 2022 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters are expected to be submitted by March 6, 2022, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Overcoming Transgression on the Internet: Considering Multimedia Forensic and Linguistic Techniques. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-blind peer review editorial process.
